A few years ago both the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University had a joint American Football program and competed strongly as The Cavaliers.
After nearly 25 years, a national title, two conference championships, multiple divisional titles, 200+ alumni members and more, The Cavaliers had to part ways due to a league ruling.
2010 marked the rebirth of the University of Oxford American Football Club as the Oxford Lancers. 2012 saw their inaugural season as part of the new BUCS National Championship.
A inevitable rivalry exists between the Lancers and the Oxford Brookes Panthers and each year a varsity game is held between the two teams to establish who is the current champion of American Football in Oxford.
Players and staff from the Lancers have been involved in the Oxford Saints over the years and continue to do so today.
