Double celebration for Saints
The Oxford Saints had double cause for celebration recently with the 2008 awards night and a win against newly formed Gloucester Banshees.
The awards went to:
- Team MVP - Andrew (Snake) Day
- Offence MVP - Brian Myers
- Defence MVP - Stephen Bentley
- Special Teams MVP - Rob Williams
- Most Improved - Ross Gouldie / Jay Taylor
- Veteran Award - Wayne (Tex) Johnson Adam Newman
- Lineman of the Year - Dean Bryan
- Rookie Offence - Willie Long III
- Rookie Defence - Matthew Richards
- G.M. Award / the Roger Hedges Memorial Trophy - Bob Sears
- Keith Turner Award - Pete Holtom & Mike Parker
The Saints also added to the Bulldogs & Saints hall of fame:
- Offensive Lineman - Steve Abbott
- Offensive Lineman - Everett Mclean
- Quarter Back - Bob Johnson
- Quarter Back - Wayne Mayers

Following this, on the Sunday, the Saints entertained the Gloucester Banshees who are looking for entry into the BAFL. The game was a friendly but hard fought affair with the Saints eventually coming away 32-6 winners.
