Saints bow out of the playoffs
Playoffs! Right Here, Right Now.
Walter at the double for the Saints

It was a tale of missed opportunities for the Saints as they went down 14 – 12 to the Cambridge Cats in a nail biting thriller that went down to the final kick of the game.
Oxford struck first in the 1st quarter when QB Scott Gallen found WR Sam Armstrong with a 23yard scoring pass. Jonny Dover’s PAT attempt was blocked, Oxford 6 Cambridge 0. Dover then had a 38 yard Field Goal attempt blocked as the 1st quarter ended.
Cambridge hit back in the 2nd quarter. A 16 yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Bowan to Everett Marshall tied the game. Steve Bright kicked the PAT to give the Cats the lead 7 – 6.
Oxford snatched the lead back in the 3rd quarter with an electric score from Sam Armstrong (having his best day ever for the Saints), hauling in a long pass from Josh Randall & racing 63 yard for the go ahead score. A change of kicker for the Saints saw Adam Newman try the PAT, another blocked attempt left the score Oxford 12 Cambridge 7.
Cambridge regained the lead in the 4th quarter with a 3 yard run to pay dirt from Jonathan Bowen, Steve Bright did what the Oxford kickers couldn’t do and again slotted the PAT to give Cambridge a slender lead 14 – 12.
The Saints had two golden opportunities to win the game but fluffed them both. The Oxford offence had 4 attempts from the 1 yard line but were unable to punch it in. The Saints then had a chance to snatch victory with the last kick of the game. Adam Newman came on to attempt a 31 yard Field Goal only to see his kick fall wide of the posts to give Cambridge the victory.
